Frequently Asked Questions & What to Expect

is therapy for me?

You are the only one qualified to answer that, but I believe everyone can benefit from therapy. If you are experiencing thoughts, feelings, behaviors, or moods that are troubling to you, or if you are struggling in relationships and intimacy, I encourage you to reach out to someone. Chances are good since you have found yourself reading this that you are searching and hoping for change. This is why I consider therapy an investment in yourself. Reaching out and admitting you need or want help can seem scary, but there is no shame in it. It can be the first step in breaking cycles in your life.

How do I find the right therapist?

Even a good therapist might not be the right fit for you. I offer a complimentary 20-minute phone consultation if you have questions that might help you in your search. The trust and rapport you have with your therapist will be vital in helping you reach the change you desire. You are the best one to determine that fit. Sometimes it takes meeting several people to find the right therapist for you. If you determine for whatever reason I am not the right fit for you, I am happy to provide you references to other therapists in the area.

What will my first appointment be like?

Once we have set a time for our first session, I will send you details via email. I will meet you in the waiting room at our appointment time (most likely along with Piper) and we will spend the 50- or 80-minute session discussing what brings you to therapy as well as going over the required new client paperwork, which will be sent to you ahead of time. I can accept payment via cash, check, or credit card at the beginning of the session. If you have questions about my fees, you can read more here or contact me directly for clarification.

Why is your practice called "Audacia" therapy?

Audacia means "daring" in Latin and I believe taking the step to reach out for help, break the current cycles, and follow your desire for change takes absolute boldness and courage and is a daring act on the part of my clients.

How do I pronounce Audacia?

Well, technically nobody speaks Latin anymore, so we cannot be sure. I pronounce it "awe-day-shuh," but you can pronounce it however you like. :)

What if I have more questions?

Please contact me! I love to answer questions for people to take the confusion, stigma, and ambiguity out of the therapeutic process.

Blessed be the longing that brought you here
And quickens your soul with wonder.

May you have the courage to listen to the voice of desire
That disturbs you when you have settled for something safe.

May you have the wisdom to enter generously into your own unease
To discover the new direction your longing wants you to take.
